I'm so happy to be a part of this movement and help a little, even if just by documenting and reporting on the food in our dining room!
I've been vegan for three years, and I try to get involved in various forms of helping spread the vegan idea, and getting involved with the Green Canteen really got me into it.

I want to get active in expanding the offer of plant-based meals in the university cafeteria, because a green university certainly includes a cafeteria with plant-based options, which helps in the fight against the climate crisis.

LENKA BOBUĽSKÁ

The fact that excessive meat consumption has a negative impact on our health and the environment is undeniable. That is why it is important to me, as an ecologist, that a plant-based diet is particularly helpful in the fight against the climate crisis.

SILVIA ZBONČÁKOVA
UNIZA
I am interested in health, I play sports and have been eating vegan since last year. The green dining room relieves me of cooking at least twice a week, but I believe it could be done more often. I think that many people often have prejudices and categorically refuse to try food that is labeled as vegan, but they would like it. Vegan options are also suitable for vegetarians and people with lactose intolerance.

About the project
Green dining room
The share of plant-based foods in the world is increasing, both from health, but also environmental reasons. Even though university students are currently the largest group consumers of plant-based food, in university cafeterias they often encounter insufficient supply or unattractive options.
In the Green Canteen project, we mainly cooperate with university dining facilities, to which we we will provide a cooking workshop, consulting, and also subsequent promotion of canteen offer including plant based foods.
Project is realized by Slovak vegan society and funded by a grant from an international organization ProVeg International, which aims to reduce the consumption of meat and animal products globally by 50% by 2040.
